Slice by HB Baking started in 2019 selling their crowd pleasing bibingka brownies and eventually added ice cream pies, cakes, and baked goods to their menu. In May of 2021, Slice opened their first retail location in Jolene’s Market Beretania in Downtown Honolulu, eventually adding ice cream truck operations into the fold in July of 2022.
Slice is operated by Chef/Owner Heather Lukela and her husband General Manager David Lukela churning out gallons of handcrafted ice cream treats and baked goods. They synergistically combine their renowned industry experience to create elevated ice cream treats. Both have worked at many notable restaurants and Hotels around Hawaii. Heather has worked at Nobu, Vintage Cave, The Kahala, and was the Pastry Chef of Top of Waikiki/Sky Waikiki. David has worked at Nobu Waikiki, Sheraton Waikiki, Executive Sous Chef at Vintage Cave, Chef de Cuisine of the beachhouse at the Moana, Executive Chef of Alohilani Resort, and Chef Instructor at Kapiolani Community College. They both have deep passion for Food and Beverage and the community that supports it and aim to delight their guests and inspire the next generation of Culinarians and Entrepreneurs.
